WILLEM F. GADIANO concentrates his practice on intellectual property procurement, licensing, transactions, litigation and counseling. He has extensive experience advising on a wide range of legal and business issues affecting pharmaceutical, dietary supplement and chemical companies, universities and other non-profit institutions in developing strategies that protect and leverage their intellectual property.

Mr. Gadiano has over 15 years of experience working on intellectual property related matters. He regularly represents clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and conducts right-to-use/freedom-to-operate and patent validity studies. He has considerable experience in technology driven transactions in which he conducts due diligence reviews, negotiates and advises companies or investors in business related agreements, corporate financing and IP asset monetization deals (royalty/revenue stream purchases and securitizations). He has represented a variety of biotechnology, pharmaceutical and dietary supplement companies, as well as Internet and e-commerce enterprises and software businesses on IP issues and transactions ranging from inbound and outbound licensing, drug discovery and development deals, joint research and development collaborations, manufacture and supply arrangements distribution and reseller relationships, outsourcing agreements, and asset purchase and sale agreements, co-marketing agreements, software development and hosting projects, Internet/web relationships, strategic joint ventures/alliances, initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, etc.

Mr. Gadiano received his B.A. degree from Wittenberg University and his J.D. degree from American University's Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C. He was also a member of the adjunct faculty at the University of Maryland University College where he taught intellectual property law.

Mr. Gadiano is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, the Virginia State Bar, United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia.
