John R. Lastova

Mr. Lastova, a shareholder since 1991, concentrates his practice on patent preparation, prosecution, counseling, and litigation. With over 25 years of experience in the field of intellectual property law, Mr. Lastova specializes in patent matters involving complex technology including telecommunications, computer architecture and software, optical applications, electronic commerce, video graphics and gaming, and electronics.

He has drafted hundreds of patents, prosecuted many more in the U.S. and abroad, and successfully shepherded issued patents through reexamination and reissue. A substantial portion of his practice is devoted to preparing opinions and counseling clients with respect to infringement, validity, and enforceability of complex technology patents. Mr. Lastova has considerable experience as patent counsel in patent infringement litigation having represented clients seeking to enforce their patents as well as those in need of competent defense.

While attending law school, Mr. Lastova worked as a Primary Examiner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office exercising signatory authority in a variety of complex technical areas including computer architecture, artificial intelligence, robotics, process control, automated manufacturing, and various computer software-based applications.

Mr. Lastova is a Registered Patent Attorney and a member of the District of Columbia and Virginia Bars.
